‘Why wear watches on your wrist when you can wear them all over your body?’
‘Why wear watches on your wrist when you can wear them all over your body?’ This is exactly the kind of thinking we expect from New York Fashion Week, and if there’s one A-Lister who’s got the confidence to pull it off, it’s Julia Fox!
The Italian-American model and actress, known for her starring role in Uncut Gems as much as for her audacious sartorial choices – we’re still haunted by that human hair clutch – strikes again with a head-turning look worn for the launch of Pandora’s Lab Grown Diamonds District in New York City.
The actress appeared on the Pandora red carpet Wednesday night in a black mini bandeau top and matching black leather miniskirt adorned with a collection of metal and black leather watches at the front (the back was left entirely open, with a cheeky rip in her tights showing off some skin.) The fashionista paired her two-piece set with a black leather bag covered in chunky belts and black studded mules also adorned with upcycled watches, because why not?
The inspiration for Fox’s look comes from a two-piece watch set featured in Hodakova’s 2022 Fall Ready-to-Wear collection, which ponders the meaning of ‘timeless fashion’ and the ways to achieve timelessness in a fast-evolving industry. For Julia Fox, however, perhaps her risqué watch look was more about making headlines than anything else, but seeing how we are currently writing an article dedicated to her outfit, it seems like it might be working.
While Fox’s intriguing watch outfit may have raised a few eyebrows, we applaud the audacity and the creative incorporation of wristwatches into the look. After all, fashion is all about thinking outside the box, and between Rihanna’s recent attention-grabbing watch choker and Julia Fox’s grunge body watch look, it looks like celebrities could be setting a new trend in watch-wearing!
