Is Rado a luxury watch brand?

Rado is a recognised luxury Swiss watch brand thanks to its material innovations and solid watchmaking heritage. A Rado watch is a considered purchase, with prices tending to hover somewhere between £1,000 for a Florence Classic or HyperChrome and £3,500 for the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic.

What are the most popular Rado watches?

The most popular Rado watch is the Centrix. This is a unisex watch with a round case and bi-colour ceramic and stainless steel bracelet strap. There’s a women’s version of the Centrix watch with a quartet of diamond indices on the dial and a men’s chronograph Centrix watch with a trio of dial apertures. One of our favourites in the Rado Centrix collection is the Automatic Open Heart, which has a skeletonised dial to reveal the automatic movement beneath. Another popular Rado watch is the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic, especially the black-on-black colourway.

What is special about Rado ceramic watches?

Rado pioneered the use of ceramic in watches in the late 1980s with the launch of its Integral collection. Its high-tech ceramic is a notoriously complex material to master, which is why Rado has the respect of its peers in the Swiss watch trade. Ceramic is light, tough, hypoallergenic, hard, durable and scratch resistant, so it’s an ideal material to fashion into typically heavy watch bracelet straps or watches cases. Plus, it can be manipulated for aesthetic purposes too. Ceramic can be colourful, shiny or matte depending on the whims of the watch designer and your preferences.
